“The techniques of the theatre are the techniques of communicating”
BUILDING TRUST
The more risks you need a group or team to take, the more trust they must build with each other.
SPONTANEITY
From an early age most of us are taught to censor ourselves. We spend so much time vigorously exercising our judgement muscles that our creativity muscles can atrophy. To take risks and respond openly to offers we need to trust our impulses and silence the ferocious editor.
ACCEPTING OFFERS
When we practice being spontaneous, we learn to accept our own ideas. It is equally important to accept the ideas of others by building on offers. Improvisers live and die by the “Yes and…” rule. It is not enough to just say yes to an idea, we must build on it as well.
LISTENING, AWARENESS & MINDFULNESS
It is impossible to accept and build on offers if we cannot recognise them. By enhancing listening, awareness and mindfulness skills, teams can harvest significantly more ideas, increase their understanding of each other and communicate more effectively.
PUBLIC WORKSHOPS Had a taste of improv before? Would you like a chance to play for a couple of hours and reconnect with the thrill of improvisation.
Reconnect with the basics, jam some scenes and laugh yourself silly, with experienced improvisation teachers who are there to make you look good.
